Year 10 and 11 are principally busy with the business of GCSE examination so of course there is a greater emphasis on academic excellence however we do aim to remain true to our ethos; learning has to be more than just passing exams so we continue to stretch our students’ curiosity and appetite for learning.
In years 10 and 11 pupils study for a mixture of up to nine iGCSEs and/or National GCSEs according to their personal requirements.
Subjects include:
- English Language and Literature
- History
- ICT/ Computer studies
- Latin/ Ancient civilisation
- Mathematics
- Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
- Business Studies/Economics
- Religious Studies
Pupils sit these exams in Year 11, which are generally held in May/June. These are taken at a centre near where the students live and your Form tutor will prepare each student and parents through the process of finding a local centre as well as applying to centres and preparing for the actual exams
The school issues pupils and parents with a list of recommended text books and resources that support the subjects taught although we also have a vast range of materials that we use in class so these purcahses are kept to a minimal.
